Update 03-31-07

Video Favorites From Across The WebThere have been some huge changes on the world wide web since we started MCC/MM four years ago, and the biggest of those changes is the advent of free video sharing and uploading.  YouTube is leading the pack and there are others, such as SteetFire.net, that are catering exclusively to car enthusiasts of all types.  AND, most of these video sharing sites offer free embed codes where you can insert these videos into your webpage or blog.  There are some simply awesome videos out there featuring modern muscle cars, and we have collected some of them here.

Update 07-12-06

Forgot to add this yesterday...  there's an all new version of the MM music video that most of you haven't seen yet.  This vid uses the same music ("FYL" by Marshall Greenberg) as the old one, but this one is the kind of video I wanted to make the first time.  When I made the first video, I was just learning the video software PLUS I was doing it on an old 400 mHz clunker PC.  So, I was limited by my own ineptitude and by a machine that locked up every ten minutes.  This one was done on my new speed demon 700 mHz machine (Woo Hoo!) that only locked up every fifteen minutes.  Also, instead of putting it on this site, I've uploaded it to www.break.com.  My reasoning for this is I wanted MCC/MM to get some major exposure... break.com is hugely popular with millions of daily visitors.  There's also a place where you can rate this video on a scale of 1 to 10, so be sure to let us and break.com know what you think about it!

See the old video here, and go here to see the new video on break.com!

Update 07-11-06

MM Featurettes:  Shade Tree 101: How to Shoe-Horn a 454 Into Your 2nd Generation Camaro by Ben Carling.  Although this is not a complete set of instructions, Ben takes us through the extensive preparation required to drop "Motorzilla" into to an engine bay that normally houses a 305 or 350.  I desperately wanted a 2nd gen with a 454 when I was in high school... I suppose it's fortunate that I never got one because I probably wouldn't be here right now.

Now parked in "My Garage":  1987 Buick Regal T Type WE4 / 1990 Ford Mustang LX / 1979 Camaro "Spectrabullet" UPDATE

Plus a few changes to the webmaster's bio pages.

Update 04-16-06

Spring is finally here, and so is an update to Modern Muscle!  Truthfully, I've added several new things over the past few months, but I've forgotten to update this page, so I'll try to cover it all here.

Google Ads: We apologize for having to resort to showing advertising on this site and our sister site www.musclecarcalendar.com, but supporting the bandwidth and disk space that these sites eat up can get pretty expensive.  Google ads will help us with some of these expenses.  We have tried very hard to minimize the intrusion and keep the same look and feel to our sites.

Modern Muscle Swag: modernmuscle.net has teamed with cafepress.com to bring you some quality, MM-branded merchandise.  Visit our CafePress store by clicking here.

Modern Muscle homepage:  Our index page has a new look!  Let us know what you think!  Be sure to read "So What Is Modern Muscle Anyway?" by Steve Wingate on the new index page.

Steve's Humor Pages:  D+ Certified by Steve Wingate.

Featurettes:  Hardened Chargers.  Exclusive pics of two dealer-customized 2006 Chargers, PLUS pics of the mighty Charger SRT-8!

Special Ed MechanicWork has begun on the new book The Special Ed Mechanic & other Brainless Ditties!  The material is already written, so it's just a matter of putting it all together in the right order and making the PDF file to send to CafePress.  The book will be offered up for sale in the MM Store on CafePress.  A copy will be sent to the syndicated morning radio program "The John Boy and Billy Big Show" and any other avenues we can come up with.  Most of the material is already available on this website, but there will be some new stuff, such as "The Big Red Two" and some of the stories will be re-written for the book.  Stay tuned for more updates.  We will preview the book cover here in the coming weeks.

Smokey Burnouts:  We've added three new videos to page two, all of them reader submitted.  Thanks guys, and keep 'em comin'!  See a WS6 burnout and turn donuts, a 2001 GT do a hard take-off, and a fox-body Mustang burn out and take off.

Update 11-20-04

Trying something new here folks...introducing the MCC/MM Information Portal.  This feature was inspired by www.jayski.com, an information portal to the world of NASCAR.  The information there is so good that it's been rumored driver's who are unsure of their future in their current ride often check Jayski's to find out if they still have a job.  I've always admired what Jay does and wanted something similar for muscle car news and rumors.  There's not anything out there like it, so I decided to make my own.  This feature will rely heavily on our readers to send us rumors, news and story links.  Please check out the feature and keep us in mind next time you hear some juicy piece of musclecar gossip, or even if you find a cool story or feature on the web you'd like the world to know about.

Update 11-17-04

Okay everybody... we've got the first new car show for Modern Muscle in a long time.  This one is the Alabama Auto Show with 29 cars featured.  We got lots of the latest modern muscle plus a few classics.  Enjoy!

Update 11-14-04

My Garage: James' 1973 Valiant Charger 770:  Wha?!?  A Valiant Charger?  Don't you mean Dodge Charger?  No, I don't... this is Australian Mopar Muscle.  Check out the feature for more info.

Update 11-13-04

Just a reminder that Christmas is drawing disturbingly near, and it's time for me (as I do every year) to resurrect some of my holiday stories in order to avoid writing any new ones.  Just click the links below to read the stories:

Update 10-31-04

Whoa, an update two days in a row!  What's going on here, you ask?  Well, it seems that the feature on Whit's 2000 Mustang Cobra R clone has generated some interest from other members of www.bamamafia.com.  Mike from Montgomery, Alabama has sent us pictures of his AWESOME 1991 Ford Thunderbird LX for "My Garage".  Check it out here.

Update 10-30-04

Update 09-19-04

The MM Online Store is now open!  We've linked up with Barnes & Noble to bring you the coolest car books we could find.  We have books on modern and classic muscle cars, with plans to add DVDs and other products soon.  The MM Online store is a great way to stock on car books (like cars themselves, you can NEVER have enough) or start your Christmas shopping for the car nut on your list.  It's also a great way to help modernmuscle.net and musclecarcalendar.com with our expenses so that we can continue to bring you the sights and sounds of the best muscle cars on the planet.

Update 8-15-04

Just a small update this time... nothing exciting.  We put these little link bars at the top of the pages to help with navigation around the site and cleaned up a few minor details.  A new section has been added to "Steve's Humor Pages"-- the "Other Stories" section is now open.  The new version of MM has been doing quite well, setting a record day of over 12k hits on 8-13-04, thanks to an increased amount of pages and being indexed by Google.  Smokey Burnouts is by far drawing the most hits, with Greg's burnout video leading the way.  We're still working on the SS Intimidator Camaro--  just be patient folks, we'll get there yet!
